  • Day One

Lancashire Academy batsman Calum Turner hit his first century for the Second XI as the Red Rose posted 239/3 on the opening day at Todmorden CC before the rain arrived.

Captain Stephen Parry won the toss and elected to bat first but Luis Reece (17) was dismissed by Matthew Waite. Fellow opening batsman Calum Turner, who impressed with a half century against Northants a couple of weeks ago, played fluently from the outset.

Turner was joined by Brooke Guest (27) and the pair put on 77 for the second wicket before the latter was dismissed by Yorkshire fast bowler Josh Shaw. Turner then brought up his half century as all-rounder Rob Jones joined him at the crease.

The Yorkshire bowlers were disciplined and never let Lancashire push the scoring rate much beyond 3 runs an over, but Turner and Jones played excellently for Mark Chilton's side.

Turner (103) brought up his century but was soon dismissed off the bowling of Barnes which left the visitors 185/3 with Josh Bohannon (27*), another Lancashire Academy player, walking to the crease.

Jones (50*) brought up his half century before the rain arrived in Yorkshire and Lancashire closed the day 239/3 and in a strong position going into the final day.

  • Day Two

Lancashire Second XI dominated the second day of the three-day Championship clash against Yorkshire at Todmorden CC.

The visitors resume on 239/3 but Josh Bohannon (28) and Danny Lamb (8) fell in quick succession to leave Lancashire 262/5.

Rob Jones continued his good form and was joined by Stephen Parry who played positively from the outset. Jones (81) was bowled by fast bowler Wainman and Arron Lilley (27) came to the crease and hit three sixes in quick time.

The Lancashire spinner Stephen Parry hit seven boundaries and was unbeaten on 43 off 33 balls as Mark Chilton's side declared on 355/7.

In reply, Yorkshire made the worst possible start and lost three quick wickets with Nathan Buck striking twice and Toby Lester once as the hosts were reduced to 13/3.

Waite (35) and Thompson (31) put up some resistance for Yorkshire before Saqib Mahmood and Stephen Parry took their first wickets of the day.

Yorkshire collapsed to 124 all out from 46 overs with Parry (3/14) and Mahmood (3/24) the pick of the bowling attack.

In Lancashire's second innings, the visitors made a solid start with Luis Reece (26) and Calum Turner (24) putting on 53 for the first wicket. Brooke Guest (48) and Rob Jones (45*) came to the crease and played aggressively as the visitors closed the day 148/3, with a lead of 379 going into the final day.

  • Day Three

Lancashire Second XI completed an emphatic victory over Roses rivals Yorkshire on the final day at Todmorden Cricket Club.

Mark Chilton's side declared overnight on 148/3 and set Yorkshire a target of 380 to win. The visitors made the perfect start as Toby Lester took two early wickets as Yorkshire were reduced to 16/2.

Callis (45) and Waite (67) rebuilt the innings for Yorkshire and the pair put on 89 for the third wicket but Stephen Parry took his first of the day trapping the former LBW.

The Yorkshire innings collapsed and the Lancashire spin duo of Arron Lilley (3/40) and Stephen Parry (5/33) bowled brilliantly on a turning track after lunch.

The hosts collapsed from 123/3 to 203 all out and Lancashire completed a comfortable 176 run victory.
