Lightning’s New Zealand international Sophie Devine went for 10 bowled by Thunder’s West Indies international Hayley Matthews, but Lightning turned around their innings thanks to a 50 partnership from Ellyse Perry and Amy Jones and finished with 73-4 off 11 overs.
Thunder started off well in reply with openers Matthews and Lamb scoring 29-0 after four overs, but Lightning captain Georgia Elwiss made the breakthrough taking wickets of the openers.
MacLeod went quickly to Becky Grundy and Dottin, Thunder’s West Indian T20 World Cup winner was bowled by Elwiss leaving Thunder needing 25 off the last two overs.
Up stepped Thunder captain Amy Satterthwaite, the New Zealand left handed batter and England Women’s Danni Wyatt scoring quickly with a boundary by Satterthwaite to seal victory with two balls to spare.
