An update from the Members' Representative Group
The Members' Representative Group was formed last year and Traditional Member, Chris Bent, gives an update on what has been achieved.
Members have given us really positive feedback about the communication provided on the Long Room notice board. The completed action list for the Members' Representative Group's formative year has been particularly well received. The Club have a new website which is now mobile optimised. There are still challenges regarding digital optimisation. Search engines change their ranking algorithms on a very regular basis. It therefore requires a variety of techniques to keep on top of the changes, both in respect of technicalities of the website and content.
Beers and Wine at Emirates Old Trafford
New beer and wine contracts have been negotiated. Some of the beers on the ground will stay the same but some will be changing. Heineken have partnered with three Manchester brewers – Holts, Robinsons and JW Lees and they will be supplying a different cask ale each.
Pavilion closed for Second XI fixture
The Pavilion was not open for a late April Second XI match. This was because events had already been booked in the Long Room which restricted any access. This will be reviewed in the future with the view to offering an alternative facility.
Discounted prices in the Pavilion:
The Club were asked to consider allowing discounted prices for everyone in the Pavilion (guests and visitors). This has been deemed to be a Member benefit only. Discount cards were introduced this year as an added benefit to LCCC Members from feedback received on pricing. It also allows for the monitoring of popular items with a view to enhancing the offering going forward.
Support pillars are in place again and concern has been expressed that they may be there for the Test Match and cause an obstruction. However, the Club confirmed that these have been installed for the concerts and will not be in place for the Test Match.
An agreement between some counties to allow complimentary access to non LCCC matches could have had an unintended loophole whereby it was possible to buy membership at another county with the specific purpose of using it to solely attend LCCC matches. The Club has introduced an appropriate “loyalty zone” to ensure that the value and prestige of a county cricket club membership is preserved and not exploited.
