Clark stars in Lancashire’s final tour fixture vs UAE

Jordan Clark starred with a four-wicket morning burst, and five in all, as Lancashire continued their domination of the UAE national team in Dubai today.

The final day of the Red Rose’s pre-season tour proved an immensely successful one as, replying to 319-7, the Emiratis slumped to 58-5 with one man also retiring hurt.

Two of Clark’s wickets came courtesy of slip catches for Liam Livingstone, who has enjoyed a memorable tour, especially with bat and in the field.

The UAE later finished on 179-9 in the 49th over, with Clark’s seamers accounting for 5-35 from 11 overs.

Clark’s first seven-over spell, coming on as first change behind, brought him four wickets at a cost of only 23 runs.

Laxman Sreekumar was first to go when caught behind smartly by Alex Davies off Clark, leaving the score at 21-1 in the eleventh.

Opening partner Babar Husain retired hurt shortly afterwards following a blow from Clark before Mohammad Qasim also edged the same bowler behind.

Shaiman Anwar edged Clark to Livingstone at third slip, and when the same combination struck again to remove Shabbir Ahmed, the UAE were in deep trouble at 57-4 in the 21st over.

Things did not get any better for the hosts as Luke Procter had Rameez Shahzad caught behind at the end of the next over – 58-5.

Mohammad Usman and Rohan Mustafa, who made 59 and 47 respectively, steadied through a 92-run stand for the sixth-wicket either side of lunch, representing the UAE’s best spell of the day.

Luis Reece then struck with his first ball to break the stand, with Mustafa skying a catch behind, leaving the score at 150-6 in the 41st over.

The left-arm seamer also had Usman caught behind in the 45th before Clark returned to complete his five-for by getting S Khalid caught at mid-wicket, leaving the score at 178-2 in the 48th.

And with Husain not batting due to his elbow injury, the match was over when Matthew Parkinson’s leg-spin bowled UAE loanee Simon Kerrigan in the next over.
