England v Pakistan: ODI Highlights from Lord’s
England extended their lead in the Royal London One-Day International series against Pakistan with another impressive performance at Lord’s.
After their comfortable victory over the visitors at the Ageas Bowl in the first ODI, the Three Lions produced another stellar performance at Lord’s (the place where they lost the first Test Match of the series back in July) with a 4-wicket victory to take the series lead to 2-0.
England could not have got off to a better start with Chris Woakes and Mark Wood combining to reduce Pakistan to 2-3 by the third over – a score which had many at Lord’s looking around in disbelief.
Pakistan managed to make up some ground after their slow start with Sarfraz Ahmed the key man for the hosts who reached a superb century but was eventually dismissed on 105 by Alex Hales at deep square – with the visitor’s all out for 251, an impressive total after the difficult start.
Joe Root (89) was once again in impressive form for the Three Lions, sharing a third-wicket stand with Captain Eoin Morgan (68) who both reached their half-centuries on an enjoyable day for the hosts (Joe Root’s clash with Adil Rashid during Pakistan’s innings didn’t manage to slow him down).
By the time Eoin Morgan left the field (dismissed by Imad Wasim), England were already on 147-3 and well on their way to another victory – with Ben Stokes also adding 42 runs to the total.
England completed their innings with Moeen Ali (21) and Chris Woakes (7) to finish their innings on 255-7 and condemn Pakistan to another loss in ODI cricket against England – winning just once in their last 11 contests.
