Ken Higgs (1937-2016)
Lancashire County Cricket Club is sad to learn the passing of former bowler Ken Higgs, aged 79.
The bowler is one of just nine Lancashire players who have taken over 1,000 First Class wickets for the Red Rose. He made his name opening the bowling with Brian Statham and he was part of a very strong Red Rose side in the 1960's.
Higgs played 15 Test Matches for England and claimed 71 wickets at an average of just over 20.
Not only was he a talented cricketer, but Higgs was also an England Youth International and signed a professional contract with Port Vale.
Higgs spent 12 season with Lancashire before going on to join Leicestershire, after a stint in the Lancashire League with Rishton.
As a mark of respect, the flags at Emirates Old Trafford have been flying at half-mast ahead of the NatWest IT20 between England and Pakistan.
