James Taylor lends support for Big Red Day
James Taylor became the latest sports star to lend his support for Emirates Old Trafford’s forthcoming ‘Big Red Day’.
Last week, Lancashire and England bowler James Anderson was on hand to launch the event which will take place on Day Four of the Investec Test match between England and Pakistan at Emirates Old Trafford.
‘Big Red Day’ will support three charitable organisations - Lancashire County Cricket Club Foundation, We Love MCR Charity and the British Heart Foundation – on Monday 25 July at Emirates Old Trafford in an effort to raise funds and awareness for each charity as well as promoting healthy living.
Taylor, who retired from the game after being diagnosed with a rare heart condition, added: “There are three amazing charities which are going to be involved on the day, the Lancashire County Cricket Club Foundation, We Love MCR and obviously the one that’s closest to my heart is the British Heart Foundation.
“I know from my personal experiences how much they’ve done for me. Because of the research that they’ve done, I was able to come out of hospital a month early due to the life vest that I was able to wear. I owe a lot to the British Heart Foundation.
“Every day they’re helping people all around the world, especially in England, so any money that we can raise through Big Red Day would be massive.”
Tickets for Day Four of the Test are priced from £25 for adults and £5 for children.
Lancashire County Cricket Club will donate 10% of Day Four ticket sales, which will be distributed evenly to each of the charities, while supporters will be offered the opportunity to donate on the day.
Spectators attending the fixture are being encouraged to wear red clothing to show their support for Big Red Day and to take part in a wide range of fun and healthy activities and challenges, such as cycling, rowing and setting records for running the 22 yards between wickets, which will be held in a specially-created ‘Red Zone’ at the ground.
