Lancashire beaten by Yorkshire in Emirates T20 Final

Lancashire Lightning fell to an Emirates Airline T20 final Roses defeat in Dubai today, failing to chase down 133 against Yorkshire.

The Lightning lost to the Vikings by 13 runs, the defending champions, as they replied to a White Rose total of 132-8 in a floodlit final.

George Edwards was the Lancashire star with the ball, claiming 3-23 from four overs, including the prized wicket of England’s Gary Ballance.

Ballance was Yorkshire’s top-scorer with 46 before he was superb caught at deep square-leg by a diving Liam Livingstone. No other Yorkshire batsman made it to 30, while Kyle Jarvis, Stephen Parry and Arron Lilley all struck once apiece.

But Lancashire also struggled with the bat, falling from 76-3 in the eleventh to finish on 119-9.
Yorkshire had made an encouraging start having reached 74-2 in the 10th over before the Red Rose spinners squeezed the life out of their innings.

Alex Davies gave Lancashire’s chase early impetus with a breezy 19 as he and opening partner Luis Reece accrued 35 for the first wicket.

Davies fell to Will Rhodes, caught at backward point in the fifth over, before left-arm spinner Karl Carver struck twice in his first over.

Lancashire fell to 61-3 in the eighth by losing Karl Brown stumped and Reece lbw, and they reached halfway at 68-3, needing 65 more.

Croft lost Livingstone caught behind off Rhodes in the eleventh before left-arm seamer James Wainman had the skipper caught behind in the 13th – 81-5.

Wainman got Luke Procter lbw in the 15th to leave the score at 96-6 before Adam Lyth bowled a maiden. It left the Lightning needing 38 off four.

Jordan Clark fell lbw to Ben Coad and Parry caught at long-on off Steve Patterson, with the score at 109-8 after 18 overs. Patterson then comfortably defended 19 off the last over.
