Lancashire sign James Faulkner for next year’s NatWest T20 Blast

Lancashire sign James Faulkner for next year’s NatWest T20 Blast

Lancashire County Cricket Club is delighted to announce that the Australian all-rounder James Faulkner will return to Emirates Old Trafford for next year’s NatWest T20 Blast.

Faulkner played a pivotal role in the side’s triumphant 2015 campaign, in which Lancashire Lightning won the NatWest T20 Blast for the first time in the Club’s history.

The 26 year-old was the joint leading wicket taker in the 2015 NatWest T20 Blast with 25 wickets from 13 matches alongside Stephen Parry as well as scoring 302 runs.

The all-rounder also took 23 wickets (including a hat-trick against Leicestershire) and 310 runs including his maiden First Class century against Surrey as Lancashire were promoted to Division One of the County Championship.

In August, Faulkner became only the sixth Australian to take a hat-trick in One-Day International Cricket against Sri Lanka and will join up with Ashley Giles’ squad in July next year.

Head Coach and Cricket Director Ashley Giles said, “We’re thrilled to have James joining us again next summer. He’s a world-class cricketer; a true competitor and it’ll be great to have him back.

“He is a great guy to have in the dressing room and his experiences at international level will really benefit the squad.

“He played an important role in our success throughout the competition last year and we look forward to welcoming him back to Emirates Old Trafford in 2017.”

Faulkner added, “I’m absolutely delighted to be returning to play for Lancashire Lightning in the NatWest T20 Blast next summer. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with Ashley Giles, the coaches and the rest of the squad in 2015.

“Finals Day at Edgbaston was one of the best days of my career so hopefully we can replicate the success of 2015 next year. I was blown away by the support I received from the Lancashire fans and I’m really excited to be playing my cricket at Emirates Old Trafford in 2017.”

Superb signing, very welcome at EOT.
We still need a top signing for the County Championship and we need confirmation about Alviro's plans for next year.

Definitely welcome back, top player and a great competitor.

Excellent signing. Now we need to see the fixture list to see how many of the 18 county Nat West Blast T20 matches don't clash with his other commitments. Who knows where this competition will fit into the schedule next year, when you consider some the comments that were accredited to a certain ECB official earlier this summer, about the standard of the domestic T20 blast. Could make your teaser tweets a bit overkill, if he doesn't play many matches.
