Parkinson takes five for Second XI at Liverpool
Matthew Parkinson took five wickets on the opening day of Lancashire Second XI’s final friendly fixture ahead of the new season against Yorkshire at Liverpool CC.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Yorkshire put on 100 for the opening wicket between Rhodes and Hodd (51) before Arron Lilley dismissed the latter, with wicket keeper Bradley Yates taking the stumping. At lunch, the visitors had reached 124-1 with Rhodes 43 not out and Gibson 33 not out.
Will Rhodes (137) played terrifically for Yorkshire, hitting a century from 187 balls with 11 fours as the Lancashire bowlers toiled in the field at Liverpool.
Matthew Parkinson then came back into the attached and produced a brilliant spell of bowling from the England U19 spinner. The nineteen year-old bowled Waite (17) before trapped Gibson (53) LBW as Lancashire clawed their way back. The Red Rose spinner then took the wickets of Brook (36) and Imtiaz (3) before Tom Bailey took his first wicket of the game as Yorkshire closed the day 349 for 7 from 103 overs.
Parkinson finished the day with figures of 5-49 from 22 overs.
