Petersen to miss final game of the season

Lancashire batsman Alviro Petersen has been ruled out for the final game of the season at Edgbaston this week against Warwickshire for personal reasons.

The Red Rose batsman flew back home to South Africa on Saturday to be with his family.

Petersen has enjoyed a productive season for Lancashire hitting three centuries including a top score of 191 at Lord’s against Middlesex in June, alongside six half centuries at an average of nearly 50. Petersen also hit a stunning unbeaten century (103*) off just 53 balls at Grace Road in July, but Lancashire Lightning were narrowly beaten by Leicestershire Foxes to end the side’s chances in the NatWest T20 Blast.

A squad for the Warwickshire fixture will be announced on Monday.
