Rob Jones and Danny Lamb sign first professional contracts with Lancashire
The Lancashire duo of Rob Jones and Danny Lamb have both signed their first professional contracts with the Club.
Both players have been a constant feature in the successful Lancashire Second XI side that only lost two games all season and were both part of the side that won the Second XI trophy against Somerset.
Jones made his debut in the Specsavers County Championship against Surrey at the Kia Oval in August, and then went on to hit a match saving unbeaten century against Middlesex at Emirates Old Trafford.
Head Coach and Cricket Director Ashley Giles said, “It’s great to see two more Academy players come through the system and earn professional contracts with the Club.
“Both Rob and Danny have worked incredibly hard in the past year and we’re excited to see how they’ve both progressed.”
Jones added, “It’s a dream come true for me to play for Lancashire and I couldn’t be happier to sign my first professional contract.
“It’s been a special summer making my Lancashire debut and then hitting my maiden First Class century. I’m looking forward to getting out to Perth to play grade cricket for the winter, working hard and to come back and contribute even more to this side in 2017.”
Lamb commented, “I’m over the moon to have signed my first professional contract with Lancashire.
“I’ve learnt so much this year from being in and around the changing room, training and playing alongside some of the senior players in the squad. I’ve loved working with the likes of Glen Chapple and the rest of the bowling attack this summer and I’ll be working hard over the winter to continue my development.”
