Second XI wickets tumble on Day 2
Seventeen wickets fell on the Day 2 of Lancashire Second XI's championship clash against Worcestershire yesterday.
Worcestershire put on 32 for the last wicket partnership before Matthew Parkinson dismissed Newton (73) and finished with figures of 6/87 as the hosts were bowled out for 285.
In reply, Lancashire made the worst possible start as Haseeb Hameed (1) was clean bowled by Russell before Guest and Jones were also dismissed early on to leave Lancashire 50/3.
Luis Reece (57) top scored for Mark Chilton's side and was well supported by Danny Lamb (43), Tom Bailey (24) and Toby Lester (37) but Lancashire were bowled out for 235, trailing Worcestershire by 50 runs going into the second innings.
In Worcestershire's second innings, Lancashire's bowling attack came out firing, with Tom Bailey striking first ball.
Bailey (3/11) took two further wickets, as did Toby Lester (2/11) whilst Simon Kerrigan (1/5) took his first wicket of the match to leave the hosts 37/6 at the close of Day Two.
