"They've both shown real promise" - Yates on Jones & Lamb
Academy Director Gary Yates says that Rob Jones and Danny Lamb are both showing 'real promise' after the pair were awarded their first professional contracts with Lancashire CCC.
"Rob’s had to wait a little bit longer and really prove himself, he’s had two years as a scholarship player and this is a great reward for him. Danny has impressed over the last twelve months, he’s really developed his game, in particular his bowling.
"His one-day form has been outstanding, he’s got good control, he hits the pitch hard and he’s got a good yorker and a very, very good slower ball and that’s where he’s improved significantly", Yates added.
The former Lancashire off spinner said, "Interestingly, I don’t get to see as much of him now with my role as Academy Director because I am involved with the Under-17’s once the season starts.
"I went to watch him represent Bramhall in the T20 North Final when they played Norden CC and he scored 70 runs off 30 balls, it was a match-winning performance that just took the game away from the opposition and you know, I mentioned his bowling but his batting also, he’s got potential as a genuine all rounder.
"Their professional contracts are fully deserved for both of them and we wish them good luck in their professional careers.”
