On Tuesday 19 September 2017, England will take on the West Indies at Emirates Old Trafford for an explosive Royal London One-Day International between two great cricket nations.

Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle needs no introduction on the international stage. Known for his powerful batting style, Gayle has scored over 20,000 runs in limited over cricket since his debut against India in 1999 – with nearly half of those coming from ODI cricket alone.

The hard hitting Jamaican will no doubt give England’s bowlers something to think about, tall and imposing, the man nicknamed ‘Gayleforce’ has a knack of scoring runs -  but will also pose a big threat for England’s batsmen having taken over 160 wickets in ODI cricket.

Dwayne Bravo

The West Indies all-rounder and former ODI captain, Dwayne ‘DJ’ Bravo, is a player which England cannot afford to overlook during next year’s ODI at Emirates Old Trafford. Boasting an impressive record in all formats of the game, Dwayne Bravo is one of the most iconic international cricketers of the modern era.

With plenty of flair as a batsman and a showbiz life to match, the man from Trinidad has turned himself into one of the most sought after players in the world with spells in the NatWest T20 Blast, Indian Premier League, the Big Bash League and the Caribbean Premier League, with a career run total of over 20,000 England will no doubt keep an eye on the all-rounder in 2016/17.

Carlos Brathwaite

The giant that is Carlos Brathwaite famously broke the hearts of millions after hitting four successive sixes in the World IT20 final against England back in April, as the West Indies went on to lift the trophy for a second time in their history.

An all-rounder from Barbados, Carlos Brathwaite made his ODI debut for West Indies against Bangladesh back in October 2011 – but it is his recent form which has caught the attention of fans around the world including his performance in that thrilling World IT20 final…showing how destructive he can be against England’s best.

Marlon Samuels

Marlon Samuels position as one of West Indies top players is often a topic of much discussion, mainly due to his inconsistencies and perceived arrogance which has led to a few controversies in recent years.

However, Samuels’ talent as a top-order batsman cannot be overlooked – with a near faultless technique and calm demeanor at the crease, Marlon has always been highly regarded by the West Indies faithful. Boasting an impressive international record, Marlon will look to replicate his destructive display against England in 2012 as he looks to down the Three lions on home soil next summer.

Sunil Narine

Currently ranked no.1 in the ICC One-Day International bowling rankings, Sunil Narine is a force to be reckoned with. An influential player with a trophy cabinet to match, Sunil was key to the West Indies’ first World IT20 trophy back in 2012, and was also instrumental to Kolkata Knight Riders Indian Premier League title victories in 2012 and 2014.

An incredibly skillful bowler with over 500 career wickets, Sunil will relish to chance to face England after having last faced them in 2013 due to a number of controversies over recent years which has limited his playing time for the national side.
