Work commences of Old Trafford Lodge demolition

WORK HAS commenced on the demolition of the Old Trafford Lodge and Development House as Emirates Old Trafford makes way for a brand new 150-bedroom Hilton Garden Inn.

Following a short demolition programme, construction of the Hilton Garden Inn at Emirates Old Trafford will commence.

The Old Trafford Lodge opened in 1999 and proved to be immensely popular amongst cricket supporters and business guests as it generated an important source of revenue for the Club.

However, with the growing success of Emirates Old Trafford’s conference and events business, the time has come for the venue to increase its hotel capacity.

Once construction is complete in the summer of 2017, the architecturally stunning new Hilton Garden Inn at Emirates Old Trafford, which will be operated by Lancashire County Cricket Club under franchise, will offer 150 guest rooms, spread over five floors, and a fitness centre. The hotel will also include a restaurant, bar and The Pavilion Pantry which will serve snacks throughout the day.

LCCC’s Chief Executive Daniel Gidney said: “The Old Trafford Lodge has played a very crucial role for the venue over the years but with the growth of our conference and events business the time is now right for us construct a four-star 150-bedroom, state of the art hotel which will enhance the magnificent cricket and conference and events facilities we already have at Emirates Old Trafford.

“The hotel will open in the summer of 2017 to welcome the South African and West Indies cricket teams to Emirates Old Trafford and we would like to thank all our visitors for their patience during this period of construction.”

Leader of Trafford Council, Cllr Sean Anstee, added:  “I’m delighted that work is now underway on the new state-of-the-art hotel at Lancashire County Cricket Club.  It’s great to see this investment  in Trafford, supporting an already impressive array of cultural attractions, as well as creating 70 jobs and increasing visitor numbers to the area.”
