Academy win one and lose one against Warwickshire

Game One - Lancashire won by 7 runs

Lancashire Academy won one game and lost one game in a T20 double header last weekend at Moddershall & Oulton CC.

Lancashire won the toss and elected to bat first with George Lavelle and Jamie Crawley opening the batting.

The pair played aggressively from the start with Lavelle hitting two maximums early on. The Lancashire duo put on 74 for the first wicket before Lavelle (43 off 35 balls) was dismissed by McCreath.

Crawley (23) was dismissed just four balls later but Henry Dobson and Ed Fluck played freely for Lancashire.

SCORECARD

The pair put on 38 for the third wicket before Fluck (23) was dismissed. Two further wickets fell in quick succession as Lancashire posted 133/5 from 20 overs.

In reply, Warwickshire started solidly with the opening pair putting on 23 for the first wicket.

Rehan Udwadia then took three wickets in quick succession to leave Warwickshire 97/4 in the 16th over.

Wickets continued to fall for Warwickshire with Cameron Smith taking two wickets and Dobson one, as Warwickshire were restricted to 126/8 as Lancashire won by 7 runs. Udwadia (3/22) was the pick of the Lancashire bowlers.

Game Two - Warwickshire won by 51 runs

In the second game, Warwickshire won the toss and elected to bat first.

Lancashire bowler Cameron Smith made an early breakthrough in the second over but opening batsman Akhtar played positively from the outset.

Smith took his second wicket to leave Warwickshire 38/2. Rehan Udwadia took Lancashire's third wicket before Henry Dobson took two wickets to leave Warwickshire 96/5.

SCORECARD

Akhtar continued on his way to a half century with Warwickshire going on to post 164/9 from their 20 overs. Henry Dobson was the pick of the bowlers with 3/26 from his four overs, whilst Smith (2/26), Hartley (2/25) and Udwadia (2/36) also impressed.

In reply, Lancashire made the worst possible start with Crawley dismissed second ball.

Quick wickets continued to fall with only Ed Fluck (23) providing any real resistance to the Warwickshire bowlers.

Lancashire were bowled out for 113 in the 19th over.
