George Edwards joined Lancashire County Cricket Club after penning a two-year deal with the county in October 2014.
The 22 year-old fast bowler arrived at Emirates Old Trafford from Surrey County Cricket Club for whom he took 4-44 on his Championship debut against Worcestershire in 2012.
The tall Londoner has taken eight wickets in the four first class matches he has played and was invited on an ECB training camp to South Africa in 2013.
LCCC Cricket Director and Head Coach Ashley Giles said: “George is a young, fast bowler with great potential and will be a great addition to our seam bowling unit.
“After losing the services of Kyle Hogg, and with Glen Chapple perhaps playing a limited role, this is an area that we need to strengthen.
“This is a great opportunity for George and we are delighted to have him on board. I wish him well with his career at Emirates Old Trafford.”
George added: “I’m very happy to sign for Lancashire. They are a club with a great history and Emirates Old Trafford is such a fantastic cricket ground. As soon as I met Ashley and had a chat with him I knew immediately that I wanted to join Lancashire.
“I am looking forward to meeting my new team-mates on Monday and to start pre-season training.”
Edwards made his debut for Lancashire Lightning in the NatWest T20 Blast in the fixture against Leicestershire, taking 4/20 in the process. He also then impressed in Finals Day taking wickets in both the semi-final and final at Edgbaston.
