A group of National Cricket Journalists have embarked on a Charity Bike Ride.
With the England Team on a month’s break, a group of National Cricket Journalists have decided to use their time for good, and embark on a Charity Bike Ride called “The Oval to Lord’s the Long Way Round”.
Led by the Colin Bateman from The Daily Express and David Lloyd from the London Evening Standard, the six set off from The Brit Oval on the 13th September and will cycle around all 18 first-class County Headquarters, finishing at Lord’s on Sunday 28th.
Lancashire County Cricket Club provided the riders with accommodation in The Old Trafford Lodge last night, for some much needed relief from the “hotels by the road” on their trip around the country.
In all, they will ride over 1,000 miles and raise much needed funds for two charities; the Laurie Engel Fund which is helping the Teenage Cancer Trust to build a special unit at the Birmingham Children's Hospital for sick teenagers.

And the other charity is Head's Up, a research programme devoted to tackling cancers of the throat and head and supported by Hugh Morris, the managing director of the England cricket team.
To support Heads Up please go to David Lloyd's Just Giving page, the address of which is:

The riders set off from Old Trafford on Monday enroute to Durham CCC.
