The Inaugural Neville Cardus Lunch will take place at Old Trafford on Wednesday April 3rd
The intention is to make the lunch an annual event, designed to help keep alive the name of Neville and his writings. It will also help further develop the Archive which is progressing very well. Click here for details of the Cardus Archive.
The lunch will take place in The Point at Old Trafford on Wednesday April 3rd (Neville’s Birthday) at 12.00 for 12.30.
We are inviting all the patrons as our guests and it is hoped that we can plan a small programme of a few people saying a few words about Neville. Already Michael & Joyce Kennedy and Elizabeth Grice have agreed to be present.
There will be some informal reflections and reminiscences of Neville, and the opportunity to see some of the Archive material and to contribute ideas for the Archive's development.
Recent acquisitions for the Archive include further manuscripts of Neville’s when he was writing for The Cricketer as well as a copy of Summer Game inscribed by Neville to Sir Thomas Beecham. We have also been given some cartoons drawn by N.C. and letters from various Prime Ministers to Neville.
We have had a good response to the Archive's latest publication, "Cardus: A Reader's Guide", and continue to build up a good database of those interested in becoming Friends of the Archive.
We do hope you will be able to join us on what should be a memorable occasion.
This three-course lunch is priced at £30 and we are hoping to produce a special menu for the occasion. Places are limited so please book early. Phone 01270 625278 or e-mail: maxcricket@btinternet.com
