Leeds Metropolitan University and the University of Leeds will compete against one another in the inaugural Varsity Twenty20 cricket match as a memorial match for Tommy Hardman the former Lancashire Academy & Leeds Metropolitan University cricketer who passed away suddenly last year.
The match will take place on Tuesday 7th May at Sports Park Weetwood, the University of Leeds outdoor sports facility. The match will start at 5pm outside the main pavilion.
Admission is free and entry is open to all. The event expects to attract a large crowd of cricket fans and friends of Tommy Hardman from both universities and cricket clubs across Yorkshire and Lancashire. Onsite refreshments will be available for the duration of the fast-paced match.
Donations will be collected at the event for the Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) charity. CRY was established to increase awareness of the conditions that can lead to sudden cardiac death in young people, and is a charity that the Hardman family wish to acknowledge following the support they have received since Tommy’s death.
