Stephen Moore will be free to look at opportunities with other counties after Lancashire County Cricket Club decided not to renew his contract at the end of the season.
The batsman arrived at Emirates Old Trafford in 2009 after spending six years at Worcestershire and hit over 1,000 runs in 2011 as Lancashire claimed their first County Championship title in 77 years.
Cricket Director Mike Watkinson said, "the Club would like to thank Stephen for his contributions in recent seasons.
"We have not been able to create regular places for him in all competitions and hopefully he will pursue options elsewhere.
"He goes with our best wishes."
Head Coach Peter Moores added; "Stephen has been an outstanding member of the Squad over the last three years and had a major influence in the Championship winning team in 2011.
"Through a lack of opportunity in four-day cricket it has been decided to allow him to look to for opportunities elsewhere. I would like to thank him for all he has given to the Team in his time with us."
