THOUSANDS OF young hopefuls queued for over half a mile at Lancashire County Cricket Club as auditions for the new Star Wars film were held in the Pavilion over the weekend.
Just under 3,000 people attended on Saturday with a similar number on Sunday with casting agents looking for aspiring actors to fill the roles of Rachel and Thomas for the latest instalment of the intergalactic saga.
Emirates Old Trafford fought off stiff competition from Manchester's leading event venues to host the auditions with plenty of Stormtroopers and Tusken Raiders on hand to keep the crowds entertained on a cold day.
Auditions have already been held in Bristol, with others planned for Glasgow, London and Dublin.
The movie is due to be filmed at Pinewood Studios next year.
