LANCASHIRE ACADEMY star Rob Jones has been named in the England under 19 squad for the ICC Under 19 World Cup which gets underway next month in the United Arab Emirates
All-rounder Jones, who hails from Warrington, is a middle-order batsman who bowls leg spin.
England will begin with a game against hosts UAE at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on 14th February, before playing Sri Lanka and New Zealand in the other group stage matches in Dubai. If England progress further they could then go on to face one of fifteen other countries in the latter stages of the tournament.
Lancashire's Academy Director John Stanworth said: “This is fantastic news and I am delighted for Rob. He has been with us for a couple of years and the call-up is a fitting reflection of the progress he has made."
EDP Head Selector David Graveney said: “This squad contains an exciting mix of young talent which we look forward to seeing perform on the world stage against top class opposition. It will be an excellent experience for these young players to develop their games in a world class environment, competing at the highest level in this prestigious tournament.”
