The Lancashire Colts will continue in the ECB Northern Premier League and participate in the League's Cup competition in 2011
The Colts will play each of the 13 established clubs, with points gained in the matches counting towards the final League positions.
The Colts team is an extension of the LCCC Academy and Scholarship programme, and operates under the guidance of Academy Director John Stanworth and his coaches to ensure opportunities are maximised for each player’s development. LCCC Analyst and former professional, Jason Swift captains the side throughout the season. Swift is an integral part of Peter Moores’ coaching staff and is currently completing his Level 4 coaching degree – the highest qualification possible.
Director of Cricket Mike Watkinson said; "It is always encouraging to see the youngsters coming through, and it is encouraging to see good prospects across the levels, including the Colts team which had a very successful first year."
"We are grateful for the support of the ECB Northern Premier League and have enjoyed our involvement with them, so we are delighted to have been invited back for 2011 when the Colts will also enter the cup competition."
"Running the team has enabled us to have a look at one or two players in a match situation and a great example of what we found there came from Tom Bailey, who we had hardly heard of in May. He took some wickets at Chorley and caught the eye, and then by August, he was in a 2nd XI Trophy semi-final at Middlesex playing against eleven professionals and acquitting himself really well. The exposure gave him, and others, the chance to shine and they grabbed it with both hands."
Match reports from the Colts games in 2011 will appear on www.lccc.co.uk throughout the season.
