GLEN CHAPPLE was anointed Lancashire County Cricket Club's Player of the Year for the second year running at last night's lavish awards ceremony.

The captain, who took 57 wickets last term in the LV= County Championship despite missing four games through injury, was the popular choice to win the accolade for the third time in his Old Trafford career.

Brian Jenkins, Thwaites Sales Director, was on hand to present Glen with his trophy on behalf of sponsors Thwaites Wainwright.

Comedian Justin Moorhouse hosted the event, alongside presenter Hugh Ferris in front of over 700 guests who enjoyed themselves during the night, which included an amazing three-song acoustic performance by Mark Chilton.
