GLEN CHAPPLE will continue as captain for a fourth season as Lancashire County Cricket Club defend their LV= County Championship title in 2012.

Having been appointed as Captain in 2009, the fast-bowling all-rounder will lead the team during what will be his 21st  season at the Club.

Last season he took 55 Championship wickets at an average of 19.51, which included three five-wicket hauls, and scored 365 runs. He also picked up the Club’s Player of the Year Award for the second successive season.

He said: “I am proud to be the Captain of this great club and I look forward to leading this group of talented players into what we hope will be another exciting year.”

Cricket Director, Mike Watkinson, said: “Glen leads by example and has inspired the team through his leadership and performance culminating in 2011 being a historic year for the Club. He is the ideal man to Captain the Club in 2012 as we look to build on our recent success.

Head Coach, Peter Moores, added: “Glen is an outstanding Captain and we have forged a fantastic working relationship which I am looking forward to continuing over the coming year. His captaincy – tactically - and his ability to deal with people, have been key factors in our development over the last few seasons. In my opinion his greatest strength is he trusts and respects his players, which gives confidence to everyone in the set-up.”
