Leading Northern brewer Thwaites has raised thousands of pounds for Lancashire and England fast bowler Jimmy Anderson after hosting his Benefit Golf Day.
Continuing its proud tradition of supporting Lancashire County Cricket Club player benefit years, the £6,000 raised by the event held at Accrington Golf Club will be donated to Jimmy’s nominated charities – Nordoff Robbins, Activate Sport Foundation and Chance to Shine.
Thwaites, who are official sponsors of Lancashire CCC with the Wainwright beer logo displayed on the club’s shirts, sponsored a star-studded golf day at Accrington Golf Club to raise funds for the Lancashire and England star who is one of the world’s leading bowlers.
Jimmy, who made his first class debut in the final month of the 2001 season and claimed 50 first-class wickets in his maiden full season of county cricket, joins a long list of Lancashire stars who Thwaites have supported, including former England captain Michael Atherton and Lancashire and England legend Andrew Flintoff.
Carol Shearer, Trade Marketing Manager for Thwaites said: “Jimmy joins a long and distinguished list of Lancashire cricketing greats that we have supported since Neil Fairbrother golf charity benefit in 1995.
“We’re delighted to be able to present Jimmy with a cheque to support his nominated charities. Everyone at Thwaites wishes him well, not only for the rest of his benefit year, but also for the forthcoming England tour of India and we look forward to seeing him in a Lancashire shirt once again next season.”
Jimmy added: “As a loyal supporter of both Lancashire CCC and the player benefit years and I am very grateful to Thwaites for their support. It’s a huge privilege to be awarded a benefit year. I’m delighted that through the series of well attended events, I have been able to support a number of very worthwhile causes close to my heart.”
