STEVEN CROFT has helped Northern Knights top the group – and is looking to pick up some silverware before returning to Old Trafford at the end of the month.

The Lancashire all-rounder has spent winter in New Zealand playing for the Hamilton-based outfit in the HRV Twenty20 competition.

He has impressed with both bat and ball and is currently in third place in the competition’s Most Runs chart with an average of 48 off a total of 241 runs.

The Knights sit at top the group with five wins out of seven games played, and if they finish at the summit they will qualify for the final automatically.

The second- and third-placed teams play-off to determine who will face the group leaders.

With three games remaining, Croft is confident his team can make the final.

He said: “I am quite pleased with my own performances and hopefully we'll have a strong finish to the campaign which ends on January 13 when we take on the Wellington Firebirds.

“Hopefully, we can continue our good form and make the final which takes place a week later.”
