Lancashire sign Lou Vincent
Lancashire have signed New Zealand batsman Lou Vincent as the Club’s replacement overseas player for the upcoming Twenty20 Cup competition.
The 29-year old former International is currently playing for Ramsbottom Cricket Club in the Lancashire League, and recently played in the Indian Cricket League (ICL) for Chandigarh Lions.
This hard-hitting, no nonsense batsman has plenty of Twenty20 experience, and was on the ICL's hit list when they were signing players for their 2nd Twenty20 tournament held in March/April and the World Series that followed.
Vincent has played 23 Tests and 102 One-Day internationals scoring just shy of 4,000 runs for New Zealand. A versatile batsman having batting up and down the order for both Club and County, Vincent's highest Test score of 224 came against Sri Lanka in 2005.
Lancashire's original overseas player Brad Hodge is still on International duties with Australia, and as planned, Mohammad Yousuf has had to return to Pakistan to participate in an International One Day Tri-Series against Bangladesh and India.
Cricket Manager Mike Watkinson said: "It looks likely that Brad will have to stay in the Caribbean until the end of the One-Day series (6 July) and Mohammad was unable to extend his stay with the club due to commitments with Pakistan. We are about to start a very important Twenty20 competition and we have brought in a player with a great reputation in the format who will add firepower to our top order. He is an exciting player and excellent fielder, just what we need for Twenty20 cricket.'
On signing for Lancashire, Lou Vincent said: "I'm delighted to get the opportunity to play in the Twenty20 Cup for Lancashire. Twenty20 cricket is a format which suits my game, and I can't wait to play my part in a successful campaign for the club."
* This signing is still subject to work permit and registration.
