American Hip Hop mega star Jay-Z has been confirmed as the support act for Coldplay's three stadium gigs next year.

The September 2009 shows will take place at Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester, Hampden Park in Glasgow and Wembley Stadium, London.

Chris Martin has been friends with Jay-Z for several years, and helped produce his new album, while the rapper features on a re-worked version of Coldplay's song Lost!

Tickets for the concerts go on sale at 9:30am on Friday (28 November).
