A mouth-watering all-Northwest Final against Cheshire awaits the Lancashire side as they triumph in the last four.
The semi-finals of the British Association for Cricketers with Disabilities (BACD) County Championship overseen by the ECB Hard Ball County Championship took place on Sunday 23rd August. Cheshire played an away tie against the Isle of Wight – emerging victorious – and Lancashire played Hampshire at Flixton Cricket Club.
Lancashire won the toss and chose to bat with rain threatened for late on in the day. Bowen and Holmes opened the batting, with Hampshire taking a wicket in the first over after Bowen had hit 2 fours off consecutive balls. Following this exciting start, contributions were made throughout the order with Lancashire's innings ending on 250 all out off 39.5 overs of a 40 overs match.
Lancashire made a great start to the second innings by taking 3 Hampshire wickets for 9 runs in the first 3 overs. Hampshire required 6.275 runs per over to claim victory. Rain eventually curtailed play after 23.2 overs of the Hampshire innings with them on 81 for 5, with all 5 wickets taken being bowled! Holmes took 2 for 20, Bowen 2 for 10 and Khan 1 for 18.
Lancashire won by 65 runs on run-rate, which sees them through to the BACD County Championship Hard Ball County Championship National Final to take place at Leamington Spa on the 6th September 2009.
