A Handful of Confetti

Former Lancashire player David Green will be signing copies of his book in the new Library during next week's Championship game against Northants.

The book signing will be the first to take place in the new-look Pavilion at Emirates Old Trafford during the lunch interval on Friday 21 June.

David has compiled stories, anecdote, reminiscence and analysis from a remarkable sporting life in a book which combines autobiography, keen insight, tall tales and an ever-present, irreverent humour.

David Green played first-class cricket for Oxford University, Lancashire and Gloucestershire from 1959 until 1970, and county one-day cricket until 1972, and also top-level rugby union for Sale and Bristol. A former Wisden Cricketer of the Year, he is the only man to have scored more than 2,000 first-class runs in an English domestic season without reaching a century in any innings.

He began his first-class cricket career as an amateur, turning professional in 1964. Following his cricket and rugby playing careers he worked for 27 years as a sports journalist for the Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph, covering county cricket and club rugby union. Now retired, he has compiled stories, anecdote, reminiscence and analysis from a remarkable sporting life in a book which combines autobiography, keen insight, tall tales and an ever-present, irreverent humour. A foreword is written by David Lloyd, the former Lancashire and England player, and former England coach, now best known as a Sky Sports commentator.
