JAMES ANDERSON has signed an extension to his existing contract with Lancashire County Cricket Club.
The 31 year-old seam bowler has committed his immediate future to the county by adding an extra year to his current deal which will keep him at Emirates Old Trafford until the end of the 2015 season.
The Lancastrian made his debut for the Red Rose in 2002 and was selected to play for England shortly afterwards. He played a vital role in the recent Investec Ashes Test series against Australia to help England secure a 3-0 victory. He will be travelling to Australia with the England squad during the winter, and will be a key component of the England bowling attack as they attempt to retain the Ashes urn Down-Under.
Anderson said: ‘I am always proud to wear the Lancashire shirt and I am delighted to extend my stay.
“It was great to return to Emirates Old Trafford in the summer for the Investec Ashes Test match and use the great the facilities after the ground’s redevelopment.”
Cricket Director, Mike Watkinson, added: “Jimmy has been an outstanding player and a great ambassador for the Club. It is great to see him play for us when his International duties allow him to and we are pleased that he has signed a new deal for Lancashire.”
Not only will Anderson be playing his domestic cricket at Emirates Old Trafford next year once again, but could also feature in the International fixtures scheduled at the ground in 2014. England will take on Sri Lanka in a Royal London One Day International on the 28th May 2014, and will return to Emirates Old Trafford to face India in an Investec Test Match which takes place from 7th-11th August 2014.
