Croft Can't Wait For Sunday

Croft Can't Wait For Sunday

STEVEN CROFT is urging Lancashire Lightning supporters to come to Old Trafford on Sunday in their numbers to cheer on the Red Rose as they take on the Netherlands in the CB40.

Having won six of their eight Group A matches played so far, Lightning are currently in a strong position to qualify for the semi-finals of the competition.

And all-rounder Croft, whose imperious form with bat and ball was recently recognised with the Most Valuable Player for July award, knows that a passionate and vocal Old Trafford will benefit the Red Rose.

He said: “The fans have a massive impact when we play. It’s great to get a good following like we do, so it’s something else on the game to try reward everybody who supports us.

“Home games can provide a massive advantage for us and getting back to Old Trafford has been brilliant. When we have a large crowd and they get behind us, it really helps.”

Lancashire have had a rare week off from competitive action following their LV= County Championship match against Somerset which ended in a draw at Liverpool last Saturday.

But with a solid week of training under their belts, Croft believes his team-mates will be ‘fresh and hungry’ and determined to get one over the Dutch, who narrowly beat them in Schiedam earlier in the campaign.

“The lads are really looking forward to the game,” he added. “We will have a week of training behind us, so we should be fresh and hungry. We also owe them one for the away leg of the match and can't wait to play them at Old Trafford. Another win will put us in a great position and hopefully from there we can get on a roll to a final spot.”

With the weather forecast looking great for the rest of the week, including Sunday, why not treat yourself and your family to an afternoon watching Steven Croft and the rest of the Lancashire Lightning team take on the Netherlands?
