Team Talk

Debut delight for Jarvis

Debut delight for Jarvis

Kyle Jarvis spoke of his delight at marking his Lancashire debut with some wickets, and admitted just getting a game this season was more than he had been expecting.

"It wasn't a bad start. It would have been nice to get a couple more, but the team did well," said Jarvis after returning figures of 3-72 as Lancashire bowled out Kent for 260 with rob Key making 134.

"I came over here knowing that I might not get a game - I was really just coming over to get used to the system. But it's a bonus I've got a game.

"The guys have gone about their business really well this season, and it's great to join a winning team. It's quite a young squad with a few older guys in there, but there's a good winning atmosphere. It's awesome to be part of."

"I'm looking forward to the challenge of next season, and hopefully I'll play a few more games."

The pace bowler struck with his seventh delivery when Sam Northeast found Luke Procter at mid-wicket and Jarvis was honest enough to admit: "It was a bit of a soft wicket (to start me off), but I'll take it. You want to be contributing at all times. That's what keeps you in teams and what makes teams."

Jarvis returned later to trap Stevens lbw in the 41st over before Andrea Agathangelou took a one-handed stunner diving to his right at second slip to help get rid of Sam Billings.

"Hopefully we'll put a few more runs on tomorrow and then knock them over," he said, looking ahead to day three. "If we can get a lead of 350 to 400, we'll be in a good position.

"The ball was nipping around a bit, and you had to get it in the right areas. Rob Key batted really well. We gave him a few chances, but we ended up getting ahead."
