EOT Hosts Northwest Football Awards

Emirates Old Trafford was again chosen as the venue for the sixth Northwest Football awards, where the Northwest's finest and brightest attended a very glitzy evening.

BBC’s Dan Walker was the master of ceremonies and was soon warming the crowd up before they settled down to a delicious three course meal and to cast their votes for the goal of the year.

Backed by the likes of FIFA, The PFA and The Football Foundation, these prestigious awards are not just about the players on the pitch but they also pay tribute and recognise the commercial, marketing and professional services talent in the region off the pitch.

The evening, now a must in the sporting calendar attracted over 450 guests from football and football related services. Amongst the star studded guests were Liverpool’s Jamie Carragher, Everton Manager Roberto Martinez, PFA Chief Executive Gordon Taylor and the Neville family.

Commenting on the night, Laura Wolfe, Managing Director at multi-award winning events and marketing company Journey9 said: “At Journey9 we care passionately about football and understand the important role it has in contributing to both the Northwest’s identity as a region as well as its economy. Tonight’s event was attended by some of the biggest names in the Northwest, and it gave us the opportunity to showcase our expertise.”

Laura added: “It was a joy to be back at Emirates Old Trafford, the venue looked amazing and is the perfect backdrop for this unique sporting occasion.

Winners on the night included, Sir Alex Ferguson, Manager of the Year and Lifetime Contribution to Football, Jamie Carragher, Player of the Year, Everton FC won 3 awards, including Women’s Player of the Year Toni Duggan. The unsung hero award was presented to Chester’s Barry Hipkiss and Community Initiative of the Year went to Bolton Wanderers.
