The Indoor Cricket Centre is introducing a Girls Graded Nets course to provide girls aged 10 16yrs the opportunity to improve their game during the off-season.
With support from the Lancashire Cricket Board and LCCC Foundation, the Cricket Centre has redesigned its girls-only offer for 2013 to help those who are already playing at schools and clubs to benefit from some additional nets-based coaching.
Qasim Ali, who is the Lead Coach of the Indoor Cricket Centre and also coached the LCB Under 17 Girls team to the National Championship in 2012, said: "Our Girls Graded Nets courses will run along the same lines as the successful Boys Graded Nets courses, which provide a great platform for players to work on specific areas of their game with other players of a similar age and ability. The Boys Graded Nets courses have long been used as a great way for players to practise their skills to help them prepare for County trials and that’s what we’re hoping to replicate for the Girls."
Girls Graded Nets will start on Saturday 5th January at the Indoor Cricket Centre and run for 5 weeks from 3.00pm – 4.30pm. The cost for the 5 weeks will be £50.00 and there will be a second course starting on Saturday 9th February.
Jennifer Laycock, LCB Women’s & Girls Development Officer, said: "The Girls Graded Nets courses will be a great way for girls to get in some pre-season training. Whether they’re already involved in the county system or they’ve been playing at school and want the opportunity to develop their game, the aim of these courses is to provide girls with the best facilities to develop their talent. These sessions are aimed at girls starting cricket right up to the players in the County squads. We have the facilities and coaches to accommodate and improve every player."
