Wickets fell at regular intervals to leave Lancashire reeling at the end of 10 overs on 36-7. Chief destroyer was left arm seamer Jamie Hoddle, son of footballer Glenn Hoddle. The tail wagged a little with Henry Thompson scoring 21 and debutant Toby Lester 20 not out adding 32 for the 9th wicket. Lancashire finished 82 all out in the 26th over.
Gavin Griffiths struck with his second ball, but a dropped catch at slip in his 2nd over meant an early oppurtunity was lost. It could have been a great reply, but Piesley played his shots to put the game beyond Lancashire, finally caught behind for 43 off Ghaus. It was Lancashire's first defeat in the competition.
