Report
Day 1. A very good start for Leics saw the hosts lose just one wicket in the morning session, Smith getting Hodnett lbw for 52 as Leicesstershire reached lunch on 159-1. Lancashire looked to bowl full and straight after the interval and it paid off, White with an excellent spell of 8 overs 3 for 19, with two victims bowled and one caught behind. From 187 for 4. Wells and Raine put on 56 before spinners Croft and McKiernan struck towards the end of the session to put Leics on 278-6 at tea. Clark picked up the 7th wicket with an lbw, and 16-year-old debutant Matt Parkinson, a leg spinner, put in a good 12-over spell of 2-21. White finished the innings when Sayer was caught at second slip by Croft.

Lancs openers Smith and Moore survived 6 overs to see Lancashire to 19-0 at the close.

Day 2. A steady start saw Lancashire reach 82 before Moore went for 42, lbw. Smith went on to make 66 before being trapped from one that popped out of the footholes. Lancs 167-2 at lunch lost two quick wickets after the break but not before Croft had reach 50. White and Livingstone added 130 for the 5th wicket before Livingstone went caught behind off the off spinner Sayer for 62. At tea were Lancs 348-5 and in the evening session McKiernan scored a bright 30 adding 75 with White who reached his 100 from 134 balls in the 91st over. Davies batting down the order due to a sore knee continued to punish the Leics bowling while White passed his 150 in the 106th over when he hit the first three balls for 6. Thoughts of Jordan Clark's six 6's earlier thi season came to mind, but White blocked the next ball which elicited some good-natured booing from his team-mates! Lancashire finished the day in a strong position on 508-7, a lead of 159.

Day 3. Lancashire added just 11 to their overnight score, losing their final three wickets to lead by 170.

Smith bowling Turner in his 2nd over. Griffiths struck in his 5th over to get fellow opener Robson, and White struck again in the 15th over, a second slip catch for Croft to make early inroads. When Newby trapped Wells lbw in his first bowling of the week, Leics went in to lunch in trouble at 65-4, with opener Hodnett injured and not able to bat.

The introduction of leg spinner McKiernan ripped out the Leics middle order in the afternoon, 3 wickets for 9 runs in his first 3 overs with the first a thunderous drive taken caught and bowled. Ghaus joined in bowling Buck with a quick full delivery for a duck, to make Leics 105-8. A partnership of 65 for the 9th wicket meant Lancashire had to bat again, Newby finally striking, and Hodnett finally appeared but to no effect as Newby took the last wicket in his next over. Leicestershire were 171 all out which left Lancashire needing 2 to win. Smith made short work of the target, driving the 2nd ball for 4.
