Lancashire kept alive their Clydesdale Bank 40 hopes alive with a stunning run chase against Gloucestershire at Cheltenham today
The home side rattled up an imposing 290 for 6 in their 40 overs after winning the toss, and Lancashire's reply was in big trouble at 0 for 2 after just 1 over.
Tom Smith (77) and Karl Brown (27) started the fightback with a 52 run partnership, then Paul Horton joined Smith to add a further 160 runs for the 4th wicket.
Needing 95 runs off 12 overs, Gareth Cross with 26 off 18 balls and Oliver Newby (35 off 16 balls) helped Horton (97 not out off 90 balls) clinch a thrilling win with 4 wickets and 11 balls to spare.
The win is also Lancashire's highest ever successful 40-over run chase, and the 4th highest Lancs List A run chase.
