Clubs Benefit From LCCC Seats

Local cricket clubs have been benefiting from the current changes at Old Trafford, with the ground's seats being donated to support cricket in the region.

In the next stage of Old Trafford’s redevelopment, thousands of seats are to be replaced in time for the upcoming season. As part of the club’s green agenda, Lancashire County Cricket Club have donated the surplus seats to clubs throughout the region.

Over 30 clubs have taken advantage of this with help from the Lancashire Cricket Board. One of the recipients was Burscough Cricket Club, in West Lancashire, who have taken away 170 seats.

Gordon Anderson, Ground Development Officer at Burscough CC, said: “We will be spacing the seats around the boundary of our picturesque School Lane ground to further enhance the facilities on offer for spectators.

“Following the completion of the ‘new’ Old Trafford ground in time for the 2013 Ashes, LCCC will once again have a stadium on par with anything in the rest of the world truly reflecting the passion the game has in the area.

“We at Burscough are grateful to the LCCC for offering seats which otherwise would just have been thrown away.”

Geoff Durbin, LCCC Commercial Director added: “We are pleased to be able to recycle our seats in this way and offer them to more than 30 clubs. This not only saves money for the local clubs, but is also a more cost-effective way of removing the seats for LCCC.

“We are hugely focused on our green agenda and this is a great example of how recycling can have significant benefits for everyone involved.”
