Thwaites, official sponsors of Lancashire County Cricket Club, with its Wainwright golden ale is giving aspiring cricketers of all abilities the chance to win an exclusive coaching session next month.
The leading northern-based brewer is offering eleven lucky winners this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, which will include a personal coaching session with a selection of players along with head coach Peter Moores at Emirates Old Trafford on 5th September.
To enter, sports fans simply have to tell Thwaites what their most breath-taking sporting moments are and why. So whether it’s Andy Murray’s recent Wimbledon triumph or England’s Joe Root becoming the youngest England batsman ever to score an Ashes hundred at Lord’s to humble the Aussies, Thwaites wants to know the historic sporting moment which has bowled you over.
All suggestions will be judged by ex-England and Lancashire wicket keeper Warren Hegg.
The lucky winners will undertake a behind-the-scenes tour of Emirates Old Trafford before they don their whites. Whether it is how to bowl the perfect Yorker or advice on hitting a textbook cover drive, the Lancashire players and coaches will put each of the wannabe cricketing aces through their paces.
After a hard workout in the nets, the participants will be rewarded with a well-deserved glass of Thwaites Wainwright which carries the strapline ‘a breath of Fresh ale’, overlooking the Emirates Old Trafford pitch.
In addition, each participant will also bag themselves a pair of tickets to watch the NatWest One Day International action when England take on Australia at Emirates Old Trafford on September 8th.
The competition is open to cricketers and sports fans over the age of 18 – with applications welcome from complete novices through to county level players. The campaign will also be promoted across Thwaites’ existing social media channels – Facebook and Twitter.
Lee Williams, marketing manager of Thwaites said: “This is a great opportunity for cricketers of all abilities to receive some first class coaching. We’re looking for outstanding moments across all sports which just like a pint of Wainwright, have been breathtakingly memorable.
“Thwaites is a proud supporter of cricket from the grassroots right up the county level in Lancashire. The coaching each individual will receive will undoubtedly improve their game so I’d urge them to apply to take part.”
The lucky winners will follow in the footsteps of 11 female cricketers who enjoyed a coaching session at Old Trafford last season courtesy of Thwaites.
