The winners of TheStadiumBusiness Awards 2013 were announced last week, with Mercedes Benz Superdome, New Orleans, USA winning the Venue of The Year category.
Now in their fourth year, TheStadiumBusiness Awards are the only awards to recognise the whole spectrum of achievements from the global stadium industry.
The winners were unveiled in front of an international audience of sports and entertainment executives at a gala dinner hosted at The Point, Emirates Old Trafford.
“We were honoured to host TheStadiumBusiness Awards 2013 at Emirates Old Trafford,” commented Daniel Gidney, Chief Executive of Lancashire County Cricket Club.
“We strive to deliver the best customer experience possible and it was great to be able to showcase our skills to the audience of fellow stadium, arena and venue experts from around the world. To be serving such high achieving global talent in our venue was a real pinnacle for our team.
Ian Nuttall, founder of TheStadiumBusiness Awards, said: "Hosting TheStadiumBusiness Awards 2013 at Emirates Old Trafford was fantastic. Our delegates – from the world of sports and entertainment – were impressed with the new Long Room and Pavilion, took part in some impromptu cricket practice and were wined and dined to a world-class standard at the Awards evening. We had nothing but praise for the evening, our hosts and the facilities.
"The Point at Emirates Old Trafford has to be one of the best event spaces at any sports facility anywhere in the world. It ticks all the boxes in terms of facilities, equipment and infrastructure but – more importantly – is operated by a great team with a real 'can do' attitude. Our delegates returned to their stadiums very impressed…
"It's always a sign of a great Awards party when you have to force your guests to leave… three hours later than planned!"
Daniel Gidney added “New levels of innovation, professionalism and best practice were evident across all categories this year, helping to create world-class venues and thrilling experiences for fans. Yet again, TheStadiumBusiness awards delivered, proving that these really are the Oscars and reputation “must-haves” for our industry.”
Hundreds of nominations were whittled down to create the shortlist, judged by an independent panel of industry figures including:
• DR. BERNIE MULLIN, Chairman and CEO, The Aspire Group, USA
• DANIEL GIDNEY, Chief Executive, Lancashire County Cricket Club, UK
• PAUL LATHAM, Chief Operating Officer (International), Live Nation Entertainment
